is it true what i have heard. i heard that someone has bought out poppy mountain or bought out marty.. boy we sure hope so, maybe then there will be some good line-ups. i have heard that larry cordial has bought it out.. if you want to see a great line up at a good price check out www.kyhorsepark.com.. that has changed my mind about poppy mnt. unless marty is gone then maybe things will change.. oh well we can only hope for the best.

I am so sorry to break your heart but NO Marty has not sold out!!! So maybe you can wish us luck going into our 12th Annual Bluegrass Festival this year. Hope to see ya there!!!!!!

by Tina

nah didn't break my heart. just caused me to save some money. heck the little festival that in in greenup county is better than the one at poppy mountain.. poppy mountain is a great place to have a festival, i just cant understand why the management there will not get the best that bluegrass has to offer. i know these threads are not going to change things and i do not want to cause any arguements but answer me that question please. i know the management (marty) can definetly afford it. the rumor that i heard was nothing but i rumor i guess, but alot of my friends and i were just hoping. oh well have a great time the 3rd weekend in sept. i went to greenup county and i am going to go to the horse park.. hope to see you all there..

I also heard that Marty was in the process of selling. I heard he received part of the money and will receive so much each year until it is paid for. He will run Poppy Mtn until it is paid for. If at anytime they don't pay it will go back to Marty. Maybe just a rumor, but have heard it from several people that are close to Marty.

Is this why Poppy Tim left??

by Karen

i have heard the same thing $50,000.00 up front and $3,000,000.00 total, but as long as marty is there the line-ups will stay the same.. lets just hope that he doesnt ruin it until then.. a total of 12 people says there not going to poppy this yr that i know. not only is that gate money but that is also camping money, 6 campers, and we always brought them on august 31st.. i am sure that # will increase in the very near future, we basically had a family reunion there.. there was 31 there last yr.. oh well see ya at bean blossom or the horsepark

The reason that Tim left was so he could be closer to his wife and kids!

by Tina

I heard Poppy Mtn. Tim left because he wasn't treated fairly. I heard he didn't leave on good terms.

THAT IS EXACTLY WHY TIM LEFT. DON'T FALL FOR THE WIFE AND KIDS BULLSHIT. ANYONE THAT KNEW TIM KNOWS THE TRUTH.

poppy tim told me a while back if marty would have stayed home and let him run the show that he would still be there today.. we all know that it is martys money but hey the truth is the truth.. in case you havent noticed the bands are getting smaller and smaller every yr. i think he will be able to tell a difference this yr and the coming yrs.. also marty does not all ways tell the trurh.. go back to an earlier thread i sent (topic is schedule) he told yes blue highway.. skaggs.. maybe patty or nitty.. what happened to these bands marty.. if you dont mind please tell us the truth why u didnt get skaggs was he wanting 10 or 15 dollars more than u wanted to pay.. i am sure u would have made all that back just by having skaggs there once instead of having marty rabon there 3 times etc.... see ya later..

Hey Steve,

I've told other people here and I'll tell you. If you want to bitch and moan and put down this festival have the guts to call someone that can make a difference, otherwise, please take it elsewhere. This forum and website is here to promote Poppy Mountain, not to mouth off about it. As I've said to others, I'm not an employee of Marty's but I'm sure he does his best and is willing to talk to any of his patrons and would be more than happy to discuss any situation you'd like. But please don't come back here bashing the festival!

Many thanks!

Happy Poppy!

i will never spend another red cent at poppy mountain.. let alone a quarter to speak to marty. and as for cursing as you did chris, well you fit right in down there.. must ber some truth to all of the rumors because you sure are tore up about it, all i wanted was some answers and all i am getting is smart alleck remarks. so take a chill pill and call your doctor in the morning. sound off and never to be heard from again!

God Bless you Stevie, I have been following up on your comments and I agree. That for the past eight years the Bluegrass band have be going down hill. So my wife and I decided not to go to Poppy Mountain in favor of finding another festival to go to. Please write back and let us Bluegrass folks find somewhere interesting to go.
There are 40 of us and look forward to
new groups as well as the old ones.
God Bless you STEVE SLONE

I think you all should get all your crap together. Poppy Mountain is a great place to go and as for Marty and all the Poppy Mountain gang and employees they are all great people. You shoud really take the time to call Marty and address the problem with him as Chris said rather than hide on this web site and not show your face. As for Poppy Tim I have nothing negative to say about him either. He is a great person also, Why can't you just understand and belive what Tina is saying and let it go at that. I am not coming to any ones defense I am just giving my opinion. This is a matter that is no ones business but Martys and as far as Marty and Tim that is between them. As a matter of fact I had the opportunity to speak with Tim at Poppy Mountain 2004 (#12) and he said himself that he really missed Poppy Mountain. By the way in spite of the awful weather Poppy Mountain was still a real success this year. So as the old saying goes if you don't have anything nice to say about someone don't say it at all thats for you Steve and Jimbo. By the way what is your problem with Marty sounds personal to me so therefore you need to go to him unless you are to big of a wussy to.
